Phosphors are used in a wide variety of LED applications to engineer and tailor the characteristics of the white light. Major product segments include backlights for LCD displays, and all types of illumination including; residential, workplace and retail. They enable the LED to create a wide spectrum of white light, with the color tuned for the desired application. Development of novel phosphor compositions is particularly important as applications become more sophisticated and consumers’ expectations for color quality increase.
